LS series engines are simple, powerful, and reliable, but no engine can withstand high oil temperatures. To cool the GTO's engine, this kit features a large 25-row stacked-plate oil cooler designed to maintain optimal oil temperature.

The kit includes a specially designed oil line adapter that bolts to the oil filter housing, allowing for the attachment of -AN stainless steel lines. Due to tight space restrictions, a thermostatic sandwich plate could not be used, so an in-line oil thermostat is included to regulate oil temperatures. This thermostat mounts under the headlight with its own direct-fit bracket and maintains oil at 185°F.

During testing, the in-line thermostat was not used to eliminate it as a variable, resulting in oil constantly flowing through the cooler. These tests showed a 65°F oil temperature drop, demonstrating the cooling capabilities of this kit.

Caution: It is the installer's responsibility to check all thermostat plugs, NPT plugs, line fittings, and other connections to assure they are fully tightened before operating the vehicle. Mishimoto recommends that all connections be checked at regular intervals, especially during the first few miles after installation.
