Honda engineered the 2017-2021 Civic Type R to be among the fastest front-wheel drive production cars in the world. However, as a blend of track performer and commuter, some compromises were made, including the stock intercooling system. Under intense driving or high temperatures, the factory tube-and-fin intercooler can become heat-soaked, reducing performance.

The Mishimoto 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R Performance Intercooler Kit addresses these issues by significantly increasing the core size to more than double the stock dimensions. The 4.7-inch thick core provides a 169% increase in overall volume and a 189% increase in external fin surface area for improved heat rejection. The kit features a bar-and-plate core construction for better flow and heat transfer, and replaces the plastic end tanks with cast aluminum designs for more effective airflow management.

The entire intercooling system has been upgraded, including a 2.5\" mandrel-bent aluminum cold-side pipe and five-layer heat-resistant silicone for the hot-side pipe and couplers. These enhancements increase airflow and help prevent boost leaks. The kit is available with either a black or silver intercooler and offers wrinkle black or wrinkle red piping options. The Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty is included.

Installation Notes: 27 in-lbs (3NM) recommended for all T-bolt and constant-tension T-bolt clamps. These clamps have an operating range of 18-35 in-lbs (2-4NM). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 35 in-lbs (4NM).
