The 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R is recognized as one of the fastest front-wheel drive production cars in the world. However, to balance track performance and daily usability, compromises were made, including the stock intercooling system. Under intense driving or high temperatures, the factory tube-and-fin intercooler is prone to heat soak, reducing performance.

The Mishimoto 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R Performance Intercooler Kit addresses these issues by significantly increasing the core size to more than double the stock dimensions. The 4.7-inch thick core provides a 169% increase in overall volume and a 189% increase in external fin surface area for improved heat rejection. The bar-and-plate core construction enhances flow and heat transfer, while cast aluminum end tanks replace the original plastic units for better airflow management.

This kit also upgrades the intercooler piping. The restrictive factory piping is replaced with a 2.5\" mandrel-bent aluminum cold-side pipe and 5-layer heat-resistant silicone for the hot-side pipe. These improvements increase airflow and help prevent boost leaks. The kit is available with either a black or silver intercooler and offers wrinkle black or wrinkle red piping options.

Installation Notes: 27 in-lbs (3NM) recommended for all T-bolt and constant-tension T-bolt clamps. These clamps have an operating range of 18-35 in-lbs (2-4NM). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 35 in-lbs (4NM).
