VHT: High-Temperature Coating Engineering and Ultimate Component Protection
In a high-performance build or professional motorsport, regular paint is a failure point. When exhaust manifold temperatures exceed 700°C and brake calipers reach 250°C, standard enamels instantly char and flake off. The American brand VHT (Very High Temperature) specializes in ceramic and silicone-based coatings designed to withstand extreme thermal shocks without losing color or protective integrity.
ATOMIC-SHOP Ukraine is the official VHT supplier. We offer a range of products that not only provide an aggressive look to automotive assemblies but also protect metal from intense corrosion caused by high heat and harsh winter road chemicals.
Ceramic Shield: Why VHT FlameProof Technology is Unique?
The flagship VHT FlameProof™ line was originally developed for the aerospace industry. Its uniqueness lies in a formula where ceramic microspheres create a monolithic protective layer when heated.
- Thermal Shock Resistance: The coating does not crack during rapid cooling (e.g., water splashing on a hot manifold).
- Polymerization Process: To fully activate its properties, the paint requires a heat cycle ("curing"), making it resistant to oils, fuels, and solvents.
- EGT Optimization: Coating the exhaust system helps keep heat inside the pipes, improving gas velocity and reducing under-hood temperatures.
Comparative Table: Standard High-Temp Paint vs. VHT Professional
| Parameter | Standard High-Temp Enamel | VHT FlameProof / Wheel Paint |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature Limit | Up to 300–400°C | Up to 1093°C (2000°F) |
| Composition | Acrylic-based | Ceramic-Silicone base |
| Chemical Resistance | Low (washes off with fuel) | High (after polymerization) |
| Adhesion | Moderate | Professional (with VHT Primer) |
FAQ: ATOMIC-SHOP Technical Expertise on VHT
How to correctly "cure" VHT FlameProof paint?
To achieve maximum durability, we recommend curing in an oven or directly on the running engine: 10 mins idle — 20 mins cool down — 20 mins running — full cool down. Without this step, the paint remains vulnerable to chemical damage.
Can VHT be applied directly over rust?
No. For professional results, the surface must be cleaned to bare metal (sandblasting is ideal) and degreased. We also strongly recommend using VHT Primer for superior adhesion.
Why does VHT Wrinkle Plus sometimes apply unevenly?
The "wrinkle" texture is highly sensitive to layer thickness and ambient temperature. We recommend applying three heavy coats (horizontal, vertical, diagonal) and using a heat gun to ensure an even effect.
