Why do forged pistons sound noisy when cold?
This is a specific trait of 2618 alloy pistons. Due to low silicon content, they expand significantly as they heat up. To accommodate this, engineers specify a larger piston-to-wall clearance. Once the engine reaches operating temperature, the piston expands to its ideal geometry, and the noise disappears. ATOMIC-SHOP recommends proper warming up before applying heavy load.

Do I need to gap the rings provided by JE?
Yes. JE PISTONS kits from ATOMIC-SHOP include high-performance ProSeal rings. However, the end gaps must be manually adjusted based on your specific boost levels and application. A "street" gap is different from a "heavy nitrous" or "high boost" gap. Always follow the JE technical guide included in the box.
