Not just another cone filter with a heat shield but a unique design which allows airflow to remain laminar and thus improve the turbo efficiency. The standard airbox is cuboid in shape which gives rise to turbulence and increases the drag on the turbo as a result. Furthermore it draws air from a duct, which despite extending over the entire grill is in fact only open on one side and this opening is also facing the engine so the airbox draws in warm engine bay heat. In addition, when the bonnet is closed, the only direct path for cold air is from the small slots in the top of the grill (for the Golf 7 variants). The following dyno graphs show the before and after results on a Golf 7 R which already had a remap. So both the stock airbox and the Eventuri were tested with the same remap in place. This is because the single duct allows for the smoothest and most direct airflow path to the filter. With the scoop directly in front of the opening there is no chance for warm air to mix with the airflow. Furthermore on the double duct, the airflow has to travel at almost a 90 degree angle from the far side of the grill to then enter the filter housing. Below is a dyno graph showing the comparison between the Eventuri and the stock airbox on a standard B58 M240i. As you can see, power and torque are increased through a large portion of the rpm range. This translates on the road to increased part throttle and full throttle response with the car pulling much more eagerly to the redline. At peak RPM the power curve for the intake merges with the stock airbox - this is due to the fact that on the dyno, the intake relies on the fan to push air through the scoop and into the filter. At high RPM the fan is simply inadequate in providing the required airflow - on the road this would not be a problem and we would expect the intake to continue making power gains up to the redline. It is a sealed system which ensures that the turbo does not draw hot air from the engine bay but enhanced with a functional bonnet scoop which forces ambient air into the intake duct. This duct has a larger internal volume than the stock version and also draws air from the stock location above the radiator. The combination of a sealed system with an air scoop results in lower intake temperatures than the stock airbox and avoids heat soak which is a common issue especially on higher powered MINIs. To ensure the smoothest flow possible we use our Patented filter housing coupled with a CNC machined MAF tube to ensure the smoothest possible flow to the turbo. __The Eventuri Difference__ The F56 MINI Eventuri system uses our Patented Carbon fibre Housing which provides an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo. Dyno tests were carried out on both a Cooper S and a JCW. The Cooper S had a stage 1 remap for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri. The JCW had a stage 2 remap and downpipe for both the stock airbox and Eventuri. The Cooper S showed a peak gain of approximately 8hp and 11ft-lb of torque but higher mid-range gains of 15hp and 25ft-lb of torque with a good gain through the RPM range. Similarly the stage 2 JCW saw peak gains of 15hp but much higher mid-range gains of 27hp and 26ft-lb of torque with a very good increase in performance throughout the RPM range. These performance gains were measured after only changing the stock airbox for the Eventuri intake - all other modifications were present for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake. The gains measured on the dyno translates on the road to increased part throttle and full throttle response with the car pulling much more eagerly to the redline. The testing was done on the same day back-to-back and temperatures were monitored to ensure consistency. The car was tested firstly with the stock intake - hood closed. We then left the car on the dyno and installed the Eventuri. The car was then run again - hood closed. For the Vbox testing our test car had a stage 1 tune for all test runs. Testing was carried out on the same stretch of road - again on the same day to keep variables minimum. The size of this inlet is very small at approximately 35cm^2. The demand from the turbo results in this opening becoming a restriction. However, simply opening the filter inside the engine bay is detrimental since the filter position is directly behind the radiator and once the engine warms up - the filter will become quickly saturated with heat. Our intake system solves this issue by keeping the filter enclosed inside an airbox and adding a secondary feed which opens the inlet area by another 28cm^2. This coupled with our Venturi Filter stack for smooth flow results in an immediate gain across the entire RPM range of 14-20hp. The dyno graph below shows the comparison between the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake system on a standard car with standard map and exhaust. The combination of a sealed system with an air scoop results in lower intake temperatures than the stock airbox and avoids heat soak which is a common issue especially on higher powered MINIs. To ensure the smoothest flow possible we use our Patented filter housing coupled with a CNC machined MAF tube to ensure the smoothest possible flow to the turbo. __The Eventuri Difference__ The F56 MINI Eventuri system uses our Patented Carbon fibre Housing which provides an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo. Not just another cone filter with a heat shield but a unique design which invokes the Venturi affect and maintains laminar flow conditions to reduce the drag on the turbo. Dyno tests were carried out on both a Cooper S and a JCW. The Cooper S had a stage 1 remap for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri. The JCW had a stage 2 remap and downpipe for both the stock airbox and Eventuri. The Cooper S showed a peak gain of approximately 8hp and 11ft-lb of torque but higher mid-range gains of 15hp and 25ft-lb of torque with a good gain through the RPM range. Similarly the stage 2 JCW saw peak gains of 15hp but much higher mid-range gains of 27hp and 26ft-lb of torque with a very good increase in performance throughout the RPM range. These performance gains were measured after only changing the stock airbox for the Eventuri intake - all other modifications were present for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake. The gains measured on the dyno translates on the road to increased part throttle and full throttle response with the car pulling much more eagerly to the redline. The testing was done on the same day back-to-back and temperatures were monitored to ensure consistency. The car was tested firstly with the stock intake - hood closed. We then left the car on the dyno and installed the Eventuri. The car was then run again - hood closed. For the Vbox testing our test car had a stage 1 tune for all test runs. Testing was carried out on the same stretch of road - again on the same day to keep variables minimum. This carbon duct has been designed to fit over the stock cold air duct and direct ambient air from the scoop into the filter. In addition, there is a heat shield attached to the side which blocks the hot air from the radiator and the alternator from directly impacting onto the carbon housing. For the Vbox testing our test car had a stage 1 tune for all test runs. Testing was carried out on the same stretch of road - again on the same day to keep variables minimum. Not just another cone filter with a heat shield but a unique design which invokes the Venturi effect and maintains laminar flow conditions to reduce the drag on the turbo. The standard airbox draws in air from the engine bay which, once the engine is up to operating temperature will be very warm. Simply placing and open cone filter with any number of heat shielding in the same place will result in exactly the same problem - the system will pull in hot air and result in a loss of obtainable power. Our intake system utilises a cold air feed from the panel under the windscreen allowing the filter to be saturated with ambient air regardless of how hot the engine bay becomes. This coupled with our unique Venturi housing for smooth flow results in an immediate gain across the entire RPM range of 24-30hp and a significant torque increase of 28-35ft-lb over the stock airbox. It is a sealed system which ensures that the turbo does not draw hot air from the engine bay but enhanced with a functional bonnet scoop which forces ambient air into the intake duct. This duct has a larger internal volume than the stock version and also draws air from the stock location above the radiator. The combination of a sealed system with an air scoop results in lower intake temperatures than the stock airbox and avoids heat soak which is a common issue especially on higher powered MINIs. To ensure the smoothest flow possible we use our Patented filter housing coupled with a CNC machined MAF tube to ensure the smoothest possible flow to the turbo. __The Eventuri Difference__ The F60 MINI Eventuri system uses our Patented Carbon fibre Housing which provides an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo. Dyno tests were carried out on both a Cooper S and a JCW. The Cooper S had a stage 1 remap for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri. The JCW had a stage 2 remap and downpipe for both the stock airbox and Eventuri. The Cooper S showed a peak gain of approximately 8hp and 11ft-lb of torque but higher mid-range gains of 15hp and 25ft-lb of torque with a good gain through the RPM range. Similarly the stage 2 JCW saw peak gains of 15hp but much higher mid-range gains of 27hp and 26ft-lb of torque with a very good increase in performance throughout the RPM range. These performance gains were measured after only changing the stock airbox for the Eventuri intake - all other modifications were present for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake. The gains measured on the dyno translates on the road to increased part throttle and full throttle response with the car pulling much more eagerly to the redline. The testing was done on the same day back-to-back and temperatures were monitored to ensure consistency. The car was tested firstly with the stock intake - hood closed. We then left the car on the dyno and installed the Eventuri. The car was then run again - hood closed. Heat and Volume are the main considerations when designing an intake for turbocharged engines. In the BMW, the intake system is located next to the exhaust manifold which rapidly heat soaks the engine bay. High temperatures are detrimental for engine performance as the turbo would have to build boost with heated, less dense air and so the only way to ensure IAT’s are kept to a minimum is for a fully sealed intake. This however, results in a restriction with only one stock air feed to draw air in from. During development we noticed an additional opening into the wheel arch area and took advantage of this by adding a secondary feed to our airbox. Furthermore our sealed airbox also has a heat shield with gold reflective to minimise the radiative heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. In order to maximise volume we made the airbox as large as possible with a recess for potential strut braces. The stock convoluted intake tube is replaced with a smooth carbon tube which is also larger in internal volume with a starting internal diameter of 111mm (4.4″) smoothly tapering down to match the turbo inlet. The tube provides a smooth path from the filter to the turbo inlet. Finally we use a custom made high-flow dry filter which is ISO tested for filtration performance and has a larger filtration area than the stock filter. The Eventuri G29 Z4 M40i intake system consists of a number of components engineered to perform a specific purpose and fabricated to the highest of standards. We use 100% pre-preg carbon fiber with no fibreglass which means we can achieve a smooth internal surface to maintain smoother airflow. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them: __Each intake system consists of:__ \\- Carbon Fiber Airbox with Dual Feeds \\- Bespoke High Flow Dry Cone Filter \\- Carbon Fiber Inlet Tube with 111mm opening ID \\- CNC Machined Temperature Sensor Mount \\- CNC Machined Breather adapter \\- Heat Shield with Gold Reflective Backing \\- Laser Cut Stainless Steel Brackets \\- Silicon Coupler with OEM Specification Clamps ![](\/\/cdn.atomic-shop.com\/images\/upload\/image\/49341480982_76b3501c92_b.jpg)Crafted from Prepreg Carbon Fiber, the airbox serves 2 objectives - to seal the filter against engine bay heat and to provide a dual cold air feed. Since the airbox is positioned next to the exhaust manifold it is crucial for the filter to be fully sealed so we designed the airbox to encapsulate the filter and at the same time provide a large internal volume. To seal the intake tube we have designed a laser cut plate with a rubber sealing strip which secures to the airbox. The intake tube passes through the plate and the rubber seal ensures heated air does not enter the airbox. To further minimise heat soak, there is an additional heat shield with a gold reflective layer on the exhaust manifold side which effectively combats the radiant heat transfer. ![](\/\/cdn.atomic-shop.com\/images\/upload\/image\/49337448926_332df94242_b.jpg)Having a fully sealed airbox results in the problem of having a restriction for the cold air feed. The stock airbox draws air from a single duct which extends to the front bumper area. During development we identified another area to draw cold air from which was a gap between the wheel arch and the chassis on which the airbox sits. To utilise this feed we extended a scoop at the back of our design which protrudes into the wheel arch and can even be seen after installation behind the front wheel. This second feed allows the turbo to draw from a larger area therefore reducing the restriction. Since the scoop extends into the wheel arch area we also incorporated an internal splash guard to deflect water away from the filter. The animation below shows both feeds and also the internal splash guard. Our final consideration was for race applications where our optional headlamp duct is used for maximum cold air flow. This however also adds the possibility of turbulence in the flow path as there are multiple faces which can cause eddies. We replace this with our carbon tube which is smooth and also has a larger internal volume with a huge 111mm (4.4\") opening diameter. The tube smoothly tapers down to the stock turbo inlet to ensure airflow remains as laminar as possible. The tube also has CNC machined fitting for the temperature sensor and the breather adapter. ![](\/\/cdn.atomic-shop.com\/images\/upload\/image\/49347265027_1f80b5ba9d_b.jpg)Our cone filter is made from a non-woven mesh material which is double layered and is ISO tested to ensure that filtration is in line with OEM standards. The filter is cleanable and very stable at high temperatures with the base material being Urethane. The filter incorporates and internal flow guiding cone to help aid the airflow to converge while reducing the possibility of a stagnation point in the middle of the filter space. Our design brief consisted of 3 main objectives: 1) Increased flow rate. 2) Low intake temperatures. 3) Smooth airflow. The first objective was met by utilising all of the limited space available in the C63S engine bay resulting in a 39% higher flow rate over the stock system. The second objective was met by designing a fully sealed system. The C63S engine bay reaches high temperatures with heat sources like the turbos in close proximity to the intake so it is crucial that the intake remains sealed. The final objective was met by designing an organically shaped system with custom rounded panel filters to ensure the airflow path contained no sharp corners and therefore allowed for the flow to remain laminar. Not just another cone filter with a heat shield but a unique design which invokes the Venturi affect and maintains laminar flow conditions to reduce the drag on the turbo. The intake was tested on the road using a Vbox unit to record the acceleration from 60-130mph . Testing was carried out on the same stretch of road - again on the same day to keep variables minimum. It is a sealed system which ensures that the turbo does not draw hot air from the engine bay but enhanced with a functional bonnet scoop which forces ambient air into the intake duct. This duct has a larger internal volume than the stock version and also draws air from the stock location above the radiator. The combination of a sealed system with an air scoop results in lower intake temperatures than the stock airbox and avoids heat soak which is a common issue especially on higher powered MINIs. To ensure the smoothest flow possible we use our Patented filter housing coupled with a CNC machined MAF tube to ensure the smoothest possible flow to the turbo. __The Eventuri Difference__ The F60 MINI Eventuri system uses our Patented Carbon fibre Housing which provides an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo. Dyno tests were carried out on both a Cooper S and a JCW. The Cooper S had a stage 1 remap for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri. The JCW had a stage 2 remap and downpipe for both the stock airbox and Eventuri. The Cooper S showed a peak gain of approximately 8hp and 11ft-lb of torque but higher mid-range gains of 15hp and 25ft-lb of torque with a good gain through the RPM range. Similarly the stage 2 JCW saw peak gains of 15hp but much higher mid-range gains of 27hp and 26ft-lb of torque with a very good increase in performance throughout the RPM range. These performance gains were measured after only changing the stock airbox for the Eventuri intake - all other modifications were present for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake. The gains measured on the dyno translates on the road to increased part throttle and full throttle response with the car pulling much more eagerly to the redline. The testing was done on the same day back-to-back and temperatures were monitored to ensure consistency. The car was tested firstly with the stock intake - hood closed. We then left the car on the dyno and installed the Eventuri. The car was then run again - hood closed. For the Vbox testing our test car had a stage 1 tune for all test runs. Testing was carried out on the same stretch of road - again on the same day to keep variables minimum.
